Prophet Elisha and the chariots of fire

The King of Aram (Syria) was at war with Israel (2 Kings 6:8). However, every time the king set up camp in a certain place, Elisha, the prophet of God, would find out and advise the King of Israel to avoid that location

Through miraculous means, the prophet heard the King of Aram's secret plans - even those made in the privacy of his palace bedroom - and consistently thwarted them from wherever he was.

Suspecting a traitor in their midst, the Syrians eventually discovered that the prophet Elisha was the cause. They sent a powerful company to Dothan, his current location, to kill him and his followers.

The army arrived at the city in the morning and surrounded it. When Elisha’s servant saw the troops, he was struck with terror and cried out, "Alas, my lord, what shall we do?" The prophet replied: "Don't be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." (2 Kings 6:16)

The servant, however, saw no one—how could this be? It seemed like certain death. But what he could not see was the spiritual world protecting them! Elisha then prayed to God and asked Him to open the servant's eyes. And God did exactly that.

The Lord opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (2 Kings 6:17).
