The Eucharistic Miracle during Lent in 1374 in Middleburg-Leuven, Belgium

It all began in 1374 in the city of Middelburg, Belgium. A very devout noblewoman encouraged all her servants to live out their faith. Among them was Jean, a new servant who led a reckless life and had not been to confession for years.

As the season of Lent approached, the lady urged everyone in her household to prepare through prayer and penance for Easter. She invited Jean to Mass, and not wanting to disappoint his employer, he went along with her and the other servants.

At the moment of Holy Communion, Jean approached the altar to receive the Eucharist, despite being in a state of mortal sin.

The moment the Host touched his tongue, it transformed into living flesh and began to bleed! Startled, Jean removed the Eucharist from his mouth, and the blood stained the cloth covering the altar rails.

The shock was so great that he deeply regretted it, confessed his sin before everyone, and completely changed his life from that day forward, becoming a great devotee of the Blessed Sacrament.

Subsequent meticulous Church investigations confirmed the authenticity of this Eucharistic miracle. To this day, a portion of that miraculous Host is preserved and venerated in Leuven, Belgium.
